Masonry contractor services in Bonita Springs, FL

Select Bonita Springs Masonry & Concrete is a masonry contractor in Bonita Springs, FL, with 16 services, from tuckpointing worn joints to building retaining walls and paver driveways. Most calls are about joints that have worn, a wall that's cracked, or a yard project you want built once and built right. The price moves with the size of the job, the brick, block or stone you pick, how much old work has to come out first and how easy the site is to reach. The schedule turns on the job's size, getting materials, the weather and, when one's needed, the permit. Your written estimate gives you the figure for your job.

  • Foundation repair

Cracked or settling foundation wall? We find out what moved it first, then repair the block so you're not fixing the same crack again.

  • Chimney repair

We rebuild loose chimney brick, cracked caps and worn joints so water stays out of the chimney and the house below it.

  • Tuckpointing

When the brick is sound but the joints are crumbling, tuckpointing grinds out the old mortar and packs in fresh mortar to match.

  • Brick repair

We cut out cracked or spalled brick, the kind with its face flaking off, and set in new brick that matches the wall.

  • Driveway pavers

We lay paver driveways on a packed base with solid edging, so a single cracked paver can be lifted and replaced later.

  • Retaining wall construction

We build retaining walls in block or stone, with drainage behind them, to hold back soil and give your yard level ground.

  • Masonry restoration

What does restoration cover? Repairing the brick, joints and stone on an older wall so it's sound again and still looks like the original.

  • Fireplace installation

We build brick and stone fireplaces for living rooms and patios, laying the firebox and surround so they're square and solid.

  • Stone veneer installation

Stone veneer gives a wall, column or fireplace the look of stone, using thin stone set over the surface that's already there.

  • Concrete block walls

We lay concrete block walls for privacy, property lines and outbuildings, in straight rows with full joints that stay sound.

  • Foundation block wall installation

Building an addition or a new structure? We lay the foundation block wall it sits on, level and square so everything above starts right.

  • Outdoor kitchen masonry

We build the block, brick or stone base for outdoor kitchens and grill islands, ready for the grill and countertop you've picked.

  • Walkway construction

We lay paver, brick and stone walkways from driveway to door or out to the yard, on a packed base so they sit flat.

  • Brick wall installation

Want a brick wall around a patio or garden? We lay it straight and level with full joints, in the brick and pattern you pick.

  • Stone masonry

For walls, steps and planters in natural stone, we fit each stone by hand so it sits tight and the joints carry the load evenly.

  • Brick pointing

When a few joints have cracked or dropped out, pointing fills them with fresh mortar before water gets in and works on the brick.

Why Bonita Springs homeowners hire us

  • The person who sells the job checks the job

I come out to look at your job, I write the estimate, and I'm on site checking the work while our crew does it. If something isn't right, you're talking to the person who answers for it.

  • A straight answer on the first visit

Before I leave, I'll tell you what the job needs and what it doesn't. If a repair isn't worth the money, I'll say so, because I'd rather lose the job than sell you one you don't need.

  • We find out why it failed before we fix it

A crack or a loose joint is usually a sign of something else, like water or movement behind it. We track down the cause first, so you're not paying for the same repair again.

What to note before we come out

Take a photo of the crack or loose joint and note whether it's grown, because how a problem changes over time tells us more about the cause than how it looks on the day. Note too where roof runoff and sprinklers hit the house, since water against masonry is behind a lot of the cracks and worn joints we see.

Masonry questions from Bonita Springs homeowners

Should I repair or replace a cracked brick wall in Bonita Springs?

Most cracked brick walls can be repaired if the wall is still straight and the cracks come from worn joints or a few bad bricks. If the wall is leaning or whatever moved it is still moving, rebuilding is usually the better use of your money. I'll tell you which on the first visit, and if a repair isn't worth it, I'll say so.

What should I have ready before a masonry contractor looks at my house?

Have any old plans or repair records handy and tell us about past work, because an old patch often explains a new crack. For an older house, the city sends requests for records of projects before June 29, 2008 to Lee County Community Development.

Why is water pooling against my retaining wall or paver driveway?

Usually the water has nowhere to go, either behind the wall or under the pavers. A retaining wall needs a way for water to drain out from behind it, and pavers need a packed base sloped so water runs off. We sort out where the water comes from before we fix the masonry, because fixing the wall and not the water means doing it twice.

Can you match the mortar and brick on an older home?

Usually we can get close on color and texture, and we can mix a sample for you to see first. On older brick, the new mortar shouldn't be harder than the brick, because mortar that's too hard can crack the brick around it. An exact match isn't always possible on old brick, and I'll tell you up front if yours is one of those.

Do you need to bring equipment into my yard for a paver or wall job?

Yes, most jobs need a clear path for material, wheelbarrows and sometimes a small machine. On the estimate visit we work out where the material will sit and how we'll reach the work. Tight access can change the method, which is one of the things that moves the price.

How soon can a masonry job start in Bonita Springs?

It depends on the size of the job, getting materials and whether it needs a permit, and we'll talk through timing at the estimate. When a job needs a permit, we check with the city or county office for your address, file it ourselves and start once it's in hand. In Bonita Springs, the city's Community Development Department takes residential permit applications through its online portal, and contractors can no longer file them by email.

How do I take care of new pavers or a new brick wall?

Keep sprinklers and downspouts from soaking the masonry, and keep an eye on the joints. On pavers, topping up the sand between them when it washes out keeps them tight. Go easy with a pressure washer, because a hard spray can strip that sand and wear down mortar joints.

Do you do masonry work outside Bonita Springs, like in Estero or Naples?

Yes, we're based in Bonita Springs and work in the cities around it, north into Lee County and south into Collier County. That includes Estero, Naples and Fort Myers, along with other cities nearby. Call (239) 256-7568 if you're not sure we come out your way.
